The Colorado Women’s Education Foundation’s (CWEF) mission is to invest in women who are transforming their lives through education…for themselves, their families, and their communities.
CWEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing scholarships to Colorado women of non-traditional student age. Since the recipients are older, they may not be eligible for grant programs or are excluded by other scholarship programs. These women are often single—having been widowed, divorced, or abandoned—finding themselves struggling to support themselves and their families including children and aging parents. They realize education is the key to becoming economically self-sufficient; and often times they are the first in their extended family to attend college. CWEF depends entirely on donations and wants to do more to provide equity and empower Colorado women. Since its inception in 1976, CWEF has provided nearly 500 women with scholarships totaling almost $400,000.
